You can buy your fishing license from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission website, a regional AGFC office or from an authorized dealer. Trout and alligator gar anglers, as well as those visiting the border lakes in the White River area will need additional specialty permits. Residents and non-residents are able to choose from various licenses depending on factors such as where you want to fish, what you want to fish, how old you are, etc. Prices range from $5 to $35.50 (combination sportsman’s license for residents). Bluegill, channel catfish, largemouth bass are proven stocking combination that provides both food and sport-fishing. When stocked in this order and properly managed, these species provide great fishing and good eating.
A trout permit is required to fish for trout in certain waters or to keep trout from any Arkansas waters. The Norfork River is 5 miles long and can be fished from the banks in certain designated spots along the river or by boat the entire length. Please remember that the water levels fluctuate based upon electricity demand and flood control. From the beginning, we’ve been active in conservation and education and that interest continues to this day. We are especially proud of our record in youth education. NAFF has donated funds in support of the renovation of Dry Run Creek and oxygen diffusers at the Norfork National Fish Hatchery. NAFF helped with improvements to the access at Roundhouse Shoals with help from, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the city of Cotter. Improvements include a new parking area with walking paths down to the rivers edge. NAFF,s latest contribution is a picnic pavilion at Mc Cabe Park.
